- ACS - Administrative Computing Services -
A unit within Enterprise Systems and Services responsible for the design, implementaion, operation, maintenance
and evolution of systems and services that support "business" computing at the University.
- ADDM - Application Development and Data Managment Team - The part of
Administrative Computing Services responsible for enterprise-wide
application development and data management.
- ASB - Administrative Services Building - ASB, ASB Annex I and Annex II are located on Busch Campus,
ASB II and ASB III are located on Cook Campus.

- ESO - Enterprise Systems and Operations - The part of
Administrative Computing Services responsible for
certain enterprise-wide systems necessary for the business operation of the University.
- ESS - Enterprise Systems and Services -
A division of the Office of Information Technology which includes
Administrative Computing, Information Protection and Security, and Telecommunications.

- IA - Internal Audit -
assists University management accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic and disciplined approach to
evaluating control processes, accounting procedures, and managing risks.
- ICI - Instructional Computing Initiative - provides and supports basic computing services for Rutgers
University graduate and undergraduate students.
- IPS - Information Protection and Security -
A unit within Enterprise Systems and Services responsible for
managing the information assurance program in an academic environment, developing policies and establishing goals and
objectives to maintain a secure information environment.
- IRIS - Rutgers University Libraries' Information System
- ITCP -
IT Certificate Program - an IT training program offered by University Human Resources. The foundation
courses offer Rutgers-specific information for the IT professional. The electives offer a variety of
technical training classes.
- ITPGC -
Information Technology Project Governance Committe - a team of academic and administrative leaders working
with the Office of Information Technology (OIT) to establish priorities for allocating central administrative computing
resources pertaining to both academic and administrative activities.
- ITSPC - Information Technology Strategic
Planning Committee - is charged with developing a University-wide strategic plan for Information Technology.

- LAWN - Local Area Wireless Network
- a research project of LCSR, it presents a low cost
solution for a scalable, authenticated wireless network.
- LCSR - Laboratory for Computer Science Research

- OAT - Office of Academic Technology
- OFIS - Online Financial Information System - The legacy system that provides online access to financial
accounting, budget and payroll data to authorized users throughout Rutgers University.
- OIRT - Office of Instructional and Research Technology - Lead by the University's CTO, this office works
closely with faculty and staff on instructional and research issues.
- OIT - Office of Information Technology -
Lead by the Vice President of Information Technology, OIT works
closely with faculty, senior administrators, the university's key stakeholders and users of computer technology in developing
policies, standards, processes, and procedures. OIT oversees the 'Campus Computing Services' and 'Enterprise Systems and
Services.'
- ORSP - Office of Research and Sponsored Programs -
Advises and assists members of the Rutgers community who are engaged in scholarly and creative activities.
- OSS - Open Systems Support -
A unit of NBCS that provides adaptable, expert, and enduring support for Open
Systems, such as Solaris, Linux, HPUX and IRIX.

- PC/LAN - PC/LAN Administrators' Group - peer group for PC based network administrators.
- PDB - People Database - Directory of the University community.

Rutgers Antivirus Delivery System - Centralized mangement of the University's McAfee anti-virus
software, provided via site license to the University community.
- RAMS - Rutgers Automated Mailing Lists -
Mailing list system used for administrative and academic mailing lists.
- RATS - Rutgers Account Tools and Services - legacy account creation tool.
- RCI - Research Computing Initiative - the generic term for the systems used by faculty and staff for a
variety of uses, including email. It is also the specific term for the
New Brunswick/Piscataway systems for faculty and staff.
- REACT - Rutgers Camden's mass mailing system.
- REALITI - Rutgers Electronic Access to Library Information through Technology Integration
- RFCU - Rutgers Federal Credit Union
- RIAS - Rutgers Integrated Administrative System -
A multi-year, multi-phase initiative to improve
Rutgers efficiency and effectiveness by replacing outdated administrative systems and related processes.
- RPM - Red Hat Package Manager - software management tool, originally only for Red Hat Linux but has been
ported to other systems.
- RUCS - Rutgers University Computing Services - Former name of the Office of Information Technology.
- RUL - Rutgers University Libraries
- RUNET - Rutgers University Network - Advanced network design intended to provide high quality network
service to all campuses. Older network sections termed LEGACY.
- RUSLUG - Rutgers University Student Linux Users Group
- RUSS - Rutgers University
Standard Software - a single installer that installs a set of common packages.
