WHO'S WHO AT RUTGERS
The University is comprised of various departments, offices and centers. While the policies and
procedures that govern the University and how it works differ greatly than those that define private industry,
structurally they are similar. The major differences arise when dealing with budgets: procurement
of merchandise, the employment process, funding, etc. The
Standards for University Operations may
help illustrate how things are done at Rutgers.
Administration and Academics
The University is effectively broken down into two branches. The Administrative branch consists of departments that
support the operation of the institution. The Executive Vice President for Administrative Affairs
oversees the Administrative branch. The Academic branch is made up of the various departments, units and centers
that provide the teaching function within the institution. The Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs
oversees th Academic branch. With the exception of the Office of the President, all departments, administrative or
academic, fall under the charge of the University Administration. Please refer to the
organizational charts for a complete organizational
break down of the University structure.
