OIT Technology Meeting - November 2006
Announcements
Mary Ann Chianelli, MSSG
OIT is still committed to, and is actively pursuing, the Microsoft Campus Agreement. Funding options are
still being evaluated. As soon as there is news, an anouncement will be made.
Armen Varjabedian, MSSG
MSSG will no longer sell Red Hat Network (RHN) entitlements through the software portal. The reasons MSSG
started acting as a reseller no longer exist. Entitlements can be purchased directly through the Red Hat
academic reseller, DLT Solutions. As departments purchase new entitlements or renew existing ones, they must
re-register their systems into their own RHN account.
Vendor information and
re-registration instructions are
available on the RHN Proxy Server site. The
Proxy Server is not affected by this change.
Ed Humphrey, NBCS
New Brunswick Central Systems will perform an upgrade of their NetApp on 11/16/2006 from 3:00 am to 8:00 am.
During the upgrade window, Eden, Mailman, RAMS, Sakai, RULink, and WebCT will NOT be available. RCI
and LDAP should not be affected by the downtime. The upgrade is meant to improve performance and reliability.
Tom Grzelak, OIRT
OIRT still has demo systems from HP (dual-core, dual Intel Woodcrest cpu) and Dell (new AMD cpu). They are
available until the end of November. If interested, contact
oirt@rutgers.edu
